Pulse electrothermal de-icing
Pulse electrothermal de-icing removes ice by sending a short, very large burst of electrical power through a thin heater under the ice. Because the pulse lasts only about a second, heat reaches only a thin layer near the surface. That melts a thin film of water at the bond, so the ice releases while little energy is lost warming the surface underneath.
Example: It works like touching an ice cube tray to a hot pan for a moment so the cubes slide out while staying frozen.
