Nichrome
Nichrome is an alloy of nickel and chromium used to make heating elements. It has fairly high electrical resistance, resists oxidation even when glowing red hot, and its resistance changes very little as it heats up. These properties make it reliable for turning electric current into steady heat.
Example: The glowing orange coils inside a toaster are nichrome wire.
