Icephobic coating
An icephobic coating is a surface layer that ice bonds to only weakly, so it can be removed with little force. Many are slippery, water-repelling films based on silicones, oils, or fluorinated materials. They reduce ice adhesion but tend to wear off with rubbing and traffic.
Example: Spraying silicone on a car door seal before winter keeps the door from freezing shut.
